What is important to us.
An unimaginable 280,000 working class Tennesseans and 25,000 veterans have been left uninsured by our failure to expand Medicaid. Let's fix that.
+ Expand Medicaid
+ Work to build a patient-centered system that allows men and women to be in control of their own care and promote health equity
+ Pass a competent, clear, and effective medical marijuana bill
+ Start treating the opioid crisis. Stop policing it.
We owe it to our children to ensure they are prepared for life and give them a fighting chance when they enter the job market.
+ Protect our public education system from voucher and charter programs and promote community schools
+ Ensure safe, well supplied 21st century classrooms with teachers who are paid what they are worth
+ Incentivize non-college options for Tennesseans who want to pursue vocations
+ Bring tuition equity to Tennessee
We need sound leadership and fresh ideas in order to bring our critical infrastructure into the 21st century. And workers need a friend in office.
+ Establish a living wage that is well above the federally mandated minimum
+ End "right-to-work" & create a Workplace Democracy Act in Tennessee
+ Create retraining programs for skilled workers whose industries have been phased out
+ Invest in our neglected railways, roadways, and electrical grid
+ Expand affordable, high speed broadband into rural communities
I have seen first-hand what happens when men and women return home from military service only to be left behind by a system of bureaucracy and lack of funding. We owe them more than that.
+ Create a certification program for veterans to apply their military skills in the private sector that works to achieve 0% veteran unemployment
+ Ensure adequate housing for all veterans
+ Provide healthcare for those veterans who are not eligible for healthcare through the VA system
We must continue conservation and preservation efforts in the face of increased deregulation, deforestation, and development.
+ Expand focus on renewable energy sources
+ Preserve waterways and green spaces
+ End rampant deregulation and hold polluters accountable
Tennessee has played a pivotal role in every major civil rights movement in America. Let's keep fighting that battle.
+ Restore voting rights to all felons
+ End Prison-for-Profit in Tennessee
+ Reform Tennessee's drug laws
+ Automatic voter registration
+ Ensure workplace and healthcare equity for women
